Tomek Turowski,
IT Manager
at Sollers Consulting since 2007.
I like to spend my free time with family and friends, play football and broaden my knowledge and skills through self-learning

I like to work with people who are passionate and ready to engage to achieve thier goals. At Sollers, each of us has a direct impact on the development of the company

Why did you decide to join the Sollers Consulting team?

I started my adventure at Sollers as a C++ programmer. I was still studying and the company gave me the opportunity to combine studies with work, so we cooperated on an 80% part-time model. I was looking for a young dynamically developing organisation, where the team was placed in the highest regard, and truely made you feel at home

How do you remember your first project?

The first major project, in which I took part, lasted for about three years and involved the development of a core system for the pension fund and was a response to pension reform in Romania. I began the project as one of the .Net and SQL programmers, and I was in the team responsible for settlement payments. During the execution of the tasks, I began to specialize in SQL – now it is my main technical competence.

What are the success factors in the IT industry?

The main thing is the commitment, passion and focus on goals and systematic verification of their implementation. The ability to give and receive feedback, as well as good work – life balance are also very important.

What do you currently do?

I am an IT manager and I manage both large IT projects and small IT teams in implementation projects for the insurance sector. I deal with translating business ideas into technical solutions, as well as defining solutions and IT architecture. I advise in the selection of technology and I am responsible for the areas of implementation and system integration.  My expertise lies in Java and SQL technologies and in Guidewire and TIA systems.
